Welcome to Nature’s Healing Foods!

Gus DeligiannidisI am so happy to share my story of health through nutrition and light exercise with you, and I hope it will inspire you to improve your wellbeing. For twenty years, I have been researching, developing, and applying my simple concept with fantastic results, and I know that you can achieve similar improvements, too!

As a younger man, I had always felt good physically. I ate whatever I wanted and I was carrying a few extra pounds (as you can see on the right),photo: Gus before but I felt fine. But in 1988 I had an episode – I felt dizzy, like all the blood was rushing to my head, and I couldn’t stay straight on my feet. I went to my family doctor, and he told me that my blood pressure was elevated. He gave me two options:

  1. Treat my problem with medication; or
  2. Treat my problem with healthy alternatives.

Well, I took the medication, and I felt twice as bad as before. That’s when I decided to try to correct my problem the healthy eating way. I started to experiment with different foods, including vegetables, and started creating meals that would have a good effect on my blood pressure.

These days were the proving grounds for me, and showed me the advantages of eating healthy foods. I thought back to my college days, when a friend told me about the benefits of calcium. I thought about how both my mother and my wife used olive oil in their cooking, and investigated the importance of olive oil in a healthy diet. I started researching all sorts of topics related to improving my wellbeing. I fine-tuned my diet, changed my routine, and what do you know, it worked. I lost 50 pounds, my blood pressure came down, I lowered my cholesterol, and as a result I feel better today than I did twenty years ago!

  1. Dad awyals pronounced it as “homos” with along o sound rather than a u sound. I assumed the u sound was Greek.Sort of like baklava was pronounced bak la’ a wa with a long a in the middle an a like a short u and a w at the end.Do you know if these pronunciations are regional or if people just follow the Greek because it is better known?
